Baruffaldi in fixing 1484 as the date of the printing of this very rare first edition. Dibdin describes it as so uncommon as to be unknown to De Bure, and not to be found in many of the most principal libraries. The present is a most beautiful copy with illuminated capitals.

The Sixt Tragedie of the most grave and prudent author Lucius, Anneus Seneca, entituled Troas, with divers and sundrye addicions to the same. Newly set forth in Englyshe by Jasper Heywood studient in Oxenforde, Anno domini, 1559. Imprinted at London in Fletestrete within Temple barre, at the signe of the hand and starre, by Richard Tottyll. 12mo.

Collation. A to E. in eights. F, three leaves, on the reverse of the last is the Colophon.

"This is not merely a translation of the Troas, but contains many additions by the Translator. The Bibliographical books seem to know nothing of this edition. Herbert and Watts both quote 1560 as the first Edition, which is however so scarce that Warton says, that he had never seen either the edition of 1560 or any earlier. It is dedicated to Queen Elizabeth. This copy formerly belonged to Hearne." MS. note.

"This very rare account of Frobisher's Second Voyage by Settle, who accompanied him, is different from that by Beste, who also accompanied him, and who published in 1578 all the three voyages of Frobisher.

I have seen a second edition of Settle's True reporte of the same year 1577, with some slight alterations in the same number of twenty-four leaves, but with different signatures, the second having eight leaves each of the three letters, A. B. C. whereas the first has four signatures, A. B. C. D. of which the first and last have only four leaves each. In B vi. of the first edition instead of Richd. Coxe gunner,' the
