(to the Conquest), A-G i in sixes, together sixty-seven leaves (not as Lowndes says sixty-eight.) With eighteen wood cut portraits of the Kings from William the Conqueror to Richard III.

Of excessive rarity, only one perfect copy having been known previously to this having been completed from various copies. It is upon the whole very fine, though some of the leaves have been pieced at the bottom. The reprint of 1811 for the collection of the Chronicles, was printed from this copy. In the volume is the following note by Dr. Farmer, whose imperfect copy was the foundation of this now perfect copy.

"On a copy of this Book in Mr. West's Catalogue, 1773, is the following Note. This is the only perfect copy of this very rare and curious Book known in the world. Nicolson, in his Historical Library says, he knew not where to find this book, &c.' p. 210. Mr. West's copy had the continuation from the Conquest, it sold for nineteen pounds! (to the King). It was probably printed in 1530. Harl. Cat. vol. 5, No. 1254."

See Herbert's Ames, p. 333, where he gives a quotation from the reign of Henry IV. which proves the date of the printing

to be 1529.
