the author. There are three papers, of N. d.

This Extraordinarily rare Interlude is evidently printed abroad-In the Biog. Dram. the date of 1574 is assigned to it. See Herbert's Ames, p. 1640, where a full account of it will be found. See also Brydges's Restituta, IV. 140-146.

The Works of Nicholas were by Royal Proclamation 13 October 224 Elizabeth, ordered to be burnt, and all persons declared punishable for having them in their possession without the ordinarie's permission.

Mirabilia opera Dei : certaine wonderfull works of God which hapned to H. N. in the houshold of Love. Translated out of Base Almaine. No place or date. 4to. Bl. L.

This singular book of the early youth of Henry Nichols the Founder of the Family

of Love, is noticed in Herbert's Ames, p. 1636, note. This copy belonged to Herbert, whose Autograph is on the first leaf.

The Large Paper of Nichols's Leicestershire is very rare, but it is excessively rare indeed to find the original edition of vol. 4, part 1; nearly the whole were destroyed at the fire at the author's Printing office in 1808, and it contains a leaf which, by some accident, was omitted in the reprint, and

British Topography. See vol. 4, part 1, p. 420-1. "A farther addition to Framland Hundred." The present is a remarkably fine copy. Beautifully bound in russia with joints.

It appears by the dedication to the Duc de Joyeuse that Nicholay (premier Cosmographe du Roy) had made a map and a memoir on Scotland during his residence

there, and that he printed this, together

with a Translation of Lyndsay's navigation of Ja. 5, at the request of Dudley afterwards D. of Northumberland who was ambassador from Henry VIII. to the French King in 1546. Lyndsay's Navigation was translated into English from this book in 1710. The map was reprinted by Adair in 1688. It is of great rarity.

NICOLAUS. Nicolai de preliis et occasu ducis Burgundie historia. S. 1. et a. (sed Herbipolis, per G. Reysner, circa 1478.). 4to. Eighteen leaves. R. M.

This rare historical work is written in bad Latin, but is very interesting on account of its being cotemporary with the facts that it relates, the last of which is the death of Charles Duke of Burgundy before Nancy in 1477. The type appears to be that of Reysner who printed about 1478 or 1479-the contractions used are very singular. See Brunet N. R. vol. II. p. 488.
