This account is said to have been first

written in Latin by Dr. Wishart, Bishop of Edinburgh, who attended Montrose in all his expeditions. It was first published in Latin in 1646. This edition, called the second, printed by Browne at the Hague, is not of common occurrence. The Print is rare. In 1720 it was reprinted with some additions, again in 1756, and lastly, Edinburgh, 1819.

Bp. Wilkins first published his "Discovery of a new world," in 1638, a farther edition in 1640, and "Mercury" in 1641. All these works are of the same time and character with this; but whether the initials F. G. B. of H. are real or assumed does not appear.

"This copy contains, after page 1138, a leaf not numbered, which I have not seen in any other copy, except in one belonging to Mr. Elliot. It is an acknowledgement by Sir T. More of some mistakes discovered by him after the book ('the answer to the first part of the poysoned booke, named the supper of the lord') was printed. It probably will be only found in very few copies." MS. note.

This edition by Gourmont was not known to Panzer, neither does Dibdin appear to have heard of it. It is without date, but appears by the Præfatio ad Lectorem to be a 2d or 3d Edition.
