The Biographer, John Lynch, Titular Arch-deacon of Tuam, fled out of Ireland into France, after the surrender of Galway to Cromwell, and is the author of a scarce and well known work Cumbrensis eversus." The present copy belonged to the celebrated collector, Major, of Mechlin, see his Catal. (No. 9272) at whose auction in 1767 it passed into the hands of Vastoeven, of the same town; on his death, it was again brought to the hammer in 1810 (Lot. 3600 in Cat.) and purchased by the individual from whom I obtained it.

I never saw or heard of another copy. In Osborne's Cat. for 1748, (p. 341, No. 12,814) there is one to be found (perhaps Coxeter's) marked one shilling. It does not appear whether it had the head. may however have belonged to the Harleian Catalogue, see Cat. II. No. 9697."

This copy has been called unique; one is to be found in the Harleian Cat. I. No. 8375, but whether or not this (purchased by Mr. Heber at the Roxburghe Sale, see Heber, Cat. Part IX. No. 1712) is the same it is not easy to discover. The Poem is in sixty-one eight-line stanzas. It is mentioned in Herbert's Ames, p. 616, (1546,) As the

Title to the Tragedy states that it was written by Lyndesay in 1546, but it nowhere appears that the volume was printed in that year.
