THE MAGAZINE OF SYSTEM IN READING

VI. The Problem of Housing the Poor. Percy

Alden, M. P......

The history of England's attempt to provide more com-
fortable dwellings and less crowded districts for her poor
is told in this article by a man whose life is devoted to the
betterment of his less fortunate neighbors.

VII. Dickens's London. Percy Holmes Boynton.. 335

The actual London of Dickens's day as it is depicted by
Dickens's contemporaries and in his novels is shown in
this article which is the result of Mr. Boynton's wide and
sympathetic reading.

VI. Rochester. Kate Fisher Kimball.....

Dickens's love of Rochester, near which he was born, to
which he returned frequently both in fact and in his
novels, and in whose Cathedral it was his wish that he
should be buried, naturally at this time has influenced Miss
Kimball's choice of the Rochester church as the subject of
this interesting instalment of her series.
