in on every side, and shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another, because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. And he went into the temple, and began to cast out. them that sold therein, and them that bought, saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves. And he taught daily in the temple.

GOD, who declarest thy Almighty
power most chiefly in shewing mercy and pity ; Mercifully grant unto us such a measure of thy grace, that we running the way of thy commandments, may obtain thy gracious promises, and be made partakers of thy heavenly treasure, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Epistle. '"1 Cor. 15. 1. BRETHREN: 1, declare unto you the
Gospel which I preached unto you,
which also ye have received, and wherein
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all, that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that he was buried; and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures; and that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve. After that he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present ; but some are fallen asleep. After that he was seen of James; and last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time: For I am the least of the Apostles, that am not meet to be called an Apostle, because I persecuted the Church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am ; and his grace, which was bestowed upon me, was not in vain; but I Jaboured more abundantly then they all; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me; Therefore whether it were I, or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

which trusted in themselves, that they were righteous, and despised others; two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a Publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this Publican ; I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the Publican standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other : for every one that exalteth himself, shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.
The Twelfth Sunday after Trinity.
LMIGHTY and everlasting God, who art always more ready to hear, than
we to pray, and art wont to give more than either we desire or deserve ; pour down upon us the abundance of thy mercy, forgiving us those things whereof our conscience is afraid, and giving us those things which we are not worthy to ask, but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord. Amen.
The Epistle. 2 Cor. 3. 4.
MUCH trust have we through Christ to
God-ward. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God. Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life.
But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious ; so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance, which glory was to be done away ; how shall not the ministration of the Spirit be rather glorious ? For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

ESUS departing from the coast of Tyre
and Sidon, came unto the sea of Galilee. through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis. And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speeeh ; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him. And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue; and looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, be opened. And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain, And he charged them that they should tell no man : but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it, and were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hatń done all things well; he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
