PRESENTATION OF JEWEL.

Under Companion DUNHAM's resolution (see page 53, proceedings 1880) I took steps to procure for Companion DAVID C. SPAULDING, a Past Grand High Priest's Jewel. In due time it was completed and presented, by me, on your behalf, with expressions of the esteem entertained for him by this Grand Chapter, and with fervent wishes for his future prosperity. Comp. SPAULDING, in a most fit and proper manner, acknowledged his thanks to this Grand Chapter for the elegant reminder of their friendship and esteem, and requested me to convey to you his deep sense of gratitude and the assurance, on his part, that the gift would ever be highly prized, and that his best endeavors would be made to wear the same with honor both to himself and the Craft.

GRAND CHAPTER LIBRARY.

I can report but little progress made this year in the way of additions to the Grand Chapter Library, owing to the increased difficulty in obtaining exchanges, but I will continue to devote all the necessary time to this work of labor and love. Every day adds to the value of a Masonic Library, and therefore the more reason we should accomplish our object and become the possessors of a Library of which we may all be proud.

Respectfully submitted.

That we have examined with care the several decisions, and found them to be in uniformity with the Constitution and Edicts of this Grand Body and recommend that the decisions be adopted and approved.

Your committee also report that Section 2, of Article 11, of the Constitution, is not correctly printed in the Proceedings of last year, in this: as it now reads it requires a ballot for each degree, whereas it ought to read as the old Constitution did, requiring but one ballot for all the Degrees.

Your Committee therefore recommend that the Grand Secretary be instructed to send out with each copy of the Proceedings of this year a correot copy of this section, with an explanatory note where to make this correction.

Respectfully submitted.
