he pursued, a course of studies at the Manchester College, (removed to York,) with a view to the Christian Ministry, but relinquished the profession in which he had been educated, and turned his attention to the healing art. He practised as a physician, many years at Halifax, in this county, with great respectability; and about a year ago removed to Leeds, where his talents and his virtues were most deservedly held dear by those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He possessed mental endowments of the highest order; and his various attainments of a literary and scientific kind, rendered his society extremely valuable.

To these he united the utmost suavity of disposition and urbanity of manners, together with a degree of moral and religious excellence seldom if ever surpassed. His disorder was a typus fever by which was terminated, in the midst of his days and usefulness, a life which, had it been spared, would have continued to reflect honour on his profession, and to confer the greatest benefits on mankind. The voice of friendship and of reason utter aloud their lament, but find their consolation in the heart-soothing recollection ; - quo nemo vir melior natus est, nemo pictate præstantior.
