Of

3. The uncleannefs of man: which we have a large account Chapter's 12. and 13. and 15. He fhall be guilty: Having contract ed a legal Pollution: But then he shall be unclean onely till the Evening, Le vit. 11. 24, 31. Or elfe fhall be cleansed by the Water of Purification, Numb. 19. 16. 4. Or if a foul fwear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, what foever it be that a man fhall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of thefe.

6. His Trefpafsoffering: By this Offering which we renin this place, we are der Trespass-offering not to understand a Trespass-offering ftrictly fo called, and as that Offering is diftinguished from a Sin-offering ftrictly fo called in the Law of Mofes. Maimon hath truly obferved, that a female is not allowed in a Trefpafs-offering ftrictly fo called, [Maimon. prafat. in Seder Kodafhim] which yet is required here; It follows, A female from the flock: But a Female is allowed in a Sin-offering ftrictly fo called, (Levit. 4.28, 32.) Befides, this very Offering is exprefsly called a Sin-offering in this Verfe, and evidently defigned to make atonement for Sin. And in cafe the Offerer cannot through poverty bring a Lamb, he is permitted to bring two Turtle-Doves or two young Pigeons, one for a Sin-offering, the other for a Burnt-offering, v. 7. The firft is called a Sin-offering three feveral times, v. 8,9. And the Meat-offering, fubftituted in cafe he could not be able to bring Fowls, is alfo called a Sin offering twice, v. 11, 12. Whereas in a Trespass-offering, ftrictly fo called, a Ram is required, v. 15. And fo again, v. 18. And afterwards, ch. 6. 6. And again, in a Trefpafsoffering, strictly so called, an He-lamb is expressly required, ch. 14. 12.

7. And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he fhall bring for his trefpafs which he hath committed, two turtle-doves or two young pi geons unto the LORD; one for a fin-offering, and the other for a burnt offering.

8. And he shall bring them unto the priest, who shall offer that
