"Enter into the Rock,

Ye trembling slaves of sin,

The rock of your salvation struck
And cleft to take you in.

To shelter the distrest,

He did the cross endure;

Enter into the clefts, and rest

March 31st.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.-Matt. xvi. 24.

"Let us take up the cross,

Till we the crown obtain ;

And gladly reckon all things loss,
So we may Jesus gain."-Hymn 478.

April 1st.

WHEREFORE he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Heb. vii. 25.

"He ever lives above,
For me to intercede,
His all-redeeming love,

His precious blood, to plead;

His blood aton'd for all our race,

And sprinkles now the throne of grace."

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep.Rom. xii. 11.

"Gracious Redeemer shake,

This slumber from my soul!
Say to me now, Awake, awake!

And Christ shall make thee whole."

Hymn 305.

The Lord taketh pleasure in them

that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.-Psalm cxlvii. 11.

"But saints are lovely in his sight,
He views his children with delight;
He sees their hope, he knows their fear,
And looks and loves his image there."

And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah, and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.-Gen. xxii. 2.

"Abraham. when severely tried,

His faith by his obedience show'd:
He with the harsh command complied,
And gave his Isaac back to God."

Hymn 286.

Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God?-Micah vi. 6.

"Wherewith, O God, shall I draw`near, And bow myself before thy face?

How in thy purer eyes appear?
What shall I bring to gain thy grace."

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. -Col. iii. 1.

"Ye faithful souls, who Jesus know,
If risen indeed with him ye are,
Superior to the joys below,

His resurrection's power declare."

In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.-Psalm lxxi. 1.

"Teach me the happy art

In all things to depend

On thee; O never Lord, depart,

But love me to the end."-Hymn 436.

April 8th.

There be

many that say,

who will shew

us any good? Lord lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.-Psalm iv. 6.

"Lift up thy countenance serene,
And let thy happy child

Behold, without a cloud between,
The Godhead reconcil'd."-Hymn 252.

April 9th.

Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. Matt iii. 12.

"The chaff of sin, the accursed thing,

Far from our souls be driven !
The wheat into thy garner bring,

And lay us up for heaven."-Hymn 502.

April 10th.

And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light; to go by day and night, Exodus xiii. 21,
