Hymn 179.

For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.— Psalm lxix. 9.

"Enlarge, inflame, and fill my heart With boundless charity divine!

So shall I all my strength exert,

And love them with a zeal like thine;

And lead them to thy open side,

The sheep for whom their Shepherd died."

November 28th.

Hymn 433.

And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow

and sighing shall flee away.-Isa. xxxv.

Hymn 71.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.-Mark xi. 12.

Inspire a feeble worm

To rush into thy kingdom, Lord,

November 30th.

For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord; whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.-Rom. xiv. 8,

"He justly claims us for his own,
Who bought us with a price;
The Christian lives to Christ alone,

To Christ alone he dies !'-Hymn 428.

December 1st.

THY people shall be my people, and thy God my God.-Ruth i. 16.

"High heaven, that heard that solemn vow, That vow renew'd shall daily hear;

Till in life's latest hour I bow,

And bless in death a bond so dear."

Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.-Eph. iii. 15.

"One family we dwell in him,
One church above, beneath,

Though now divided by the stream,
The narrow stream of death:
One army of the living God,

To his command we bow;

Part of his host have cross'd the flood,

And part are crossing now."-Hymn 735.

December 3rd.

He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass; as showers that water the earth.-Ps. lxxii 6.

"As rain on meadows newly mown,
So shall he send his influence down:
His grace on fainting souls distils,
Like heavenly dew on thirsty hills."

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.-Eph. vi. 11.

"Stand then in his great might,
With all his strength endued;
But take to arm you for the fight,
The panophy of God."-Hymn 266.

December 5th.

Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. -Matt. xi. 28.

"Come, ye weary sinners, come,
All who groan beneath your load,
Jesus calls his wanderers home:
Hasten to your pardoning God,
Come, ye guilty spirits oppress'd,
Answer to the Saviour's call:
Come, and I will give you rest:
Come, and I will save you all."

December 6th.

Hymn 29.

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.-Ezek. xxxvi. 25.

"Purge me from every sinful blot;
My idols all be cast aside;

Cleanse me from every sinful thought,
From all the filth of self and pride."

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.-Rom. xiv.
