January 19th.

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.-Isaiah lv. 1.

"Ho! every one that thirsts, draw nigh; ('Tis God invites the fallen race;)

Mercy and free salvation buy;

Buy wine, and milk, and gospel-grace."-Hymn 4.

January 20th.

Redeeming the time.-Ephes. v. 16.

"To serve the present age
My calling to fulfil ;-

O may it all my powers engage
To do my Master's will!"-Hymn 318.

January 21st.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.-John i. 11.

"His own on earth he sought,
His own received him not;
Him a sign by all blasphem'd,
Outcast and despised of men.
Him they all a madman deem'd,
Bold to scoff the Nazarene."-Hymn 195.

January 22nd.

And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.-Ezek. xxxvii. 3.

"Breathe on us, Lord, in this our day,
And these dry bones shall live;
Speak peace into our hearts, and say,
The Holy Ghost receive!"-Hymn 486.

January 23rd.

For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance-Psalm xciv. 14.

"Me for thine own thou lov'st to take,
In time and in eternity:

Thou never, never wilt forsake

A helpless worm that trusts in thee."

January 24th.

Hymn 227.

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.-1 Tim. i. 15.

"O unexampled love!

O all-redeeming grace! How swiftly didst thou move To save a fallen race!

What shall I do to make it known

What thou for all mankind hast done."-Hymn 34

January 25th.

And he placed at the east of the garden of Eden, Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.-Gen. iii. 24.

"He removes the flaming sword, Calls us back from Eden driven; To his image here restored,

Soon he takes us up to heaven."-Hymn 480.

January 26th.

What shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God.-1 Pet. iv. 17.

"Woe to the men on earth who dwell,
Nor dread the' Almighty's frown,
When God doth all his wrath reveal,
And shower his judgments down."-Hymn 63.

January 27th.

But Jesus said, suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me; for of such is the kingdom of Heaven. -Matt. xix. 14.

"Permit them to approach," he cries,
"Nor scorn the humble name:
For 'twas to bless such souls as these
The Lord of Angels came."-Hymn 743.

January 28th.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.-Phil. ii. 5.

"O arm me with the mind,

Meek Lamb! which was in thee;

And let my knowing zeal be join'd
With perfect charity."-Hymn 270.

January 29th.

Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there 'was no God formed, neither shall there be after me."-Isaiah xliii. 10.

"Ye are my witnesses, to you

My name and nature all are known,
Ye only can your seal set to,

That I am God, and God alone."-Hymn 90.

January 30th.

Now the Lord had said unto Abraham, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:Gen. xii. 1.

"Father, the narrow path

To that far country show;

And in the steps of Abraham's faith
Enable me to go."-Hymn 686.
