ture C vi) which were suppressed or softened in the second. Duke of Roxburghe's copy in russia

No place, printer, or date (Worms, 1526) A bitter satire against Cardinal Wolsey and the Romish Priesthood by William Roy, who had been himself a friar previously to assisting William Tyndale in translating the first English Testament, and who was subsequently burnt for heresy. The work is of excessive rarity, owing, no doubt, to its having been inserted in the list of prohibited books, which curates were specially directed to search after and report, with the names of the owners, to their Ordinary. Lowndes is incorrect in his collation of the volume, which, including title-page, has signatures A to I viii (not as he states B to K) in eights (D ii being erroneously marked A iii, E iv marked D iiii, I ii and iv marked H ii and Hiii), and he could evidently never have seen a copy, as he describes the Papal Arms on the last leaf as the publisher's woodcut. On the authority of Tyndale we know that the book was printed at Worms in 1526. Bright's copy sold for £16, Dent's for £15. 15s., and this at the Roxburghe sale for £13s. 13s.
