The Translator of this Treatise, Krishna Chundra Ghosa, a nephew of the late Mahá Rája Ráj-Krishna Buhádur, having for some time past been desirous of publishing some work or other, which might be useful to his countrymen, thought his object would be attained by engaging his mind in rendering from English into Persian certain Anecdotes, which he considered calculated to instruct the mind, as well as to be a source of amusement; and having completed his object, has, at the suggestion of his much esteemed cousin Mahá Rája Kaleekrishna Buhádur, committed them to the Calcutta School Book Society's Press, (having obtained the Committee's permission to that effect.) The Translator has only to request the candid reader to make all allowance for occasional deficiencies, earnestly hoping that all may derive from the Anecdotes the pleasure and profit, which it has been his sincere wish to communicate.
