PUBLISHER'S NOTICE.

Pure gold never carries a card of introduction. Its very name is a sufficient passport to the palaces of the rich, and the cottages of the poor; and when once introduced its intrinsic value renders its stay richly and permanently acceptable.

So WITH THIS VOLUME.

One thousand copies were printed, and divided between three bookstores in three distant cities, and were soon gone. Various publications and various men have given it unsolicited and unqualified commendation.

A second edition of two thousand copies is now published; yet, as before, it goes forth nameless ; depending on its intrinsic value for an introduction to the mind and heart.

To the lovers of truth it is commended-Put it in your crucible, and see if it is not comparable to the most fine gold. It is also commended devoutly to the blessing of Him who made the mind and meets its immortal wants.
