College Bulletin ISSUED IN FEBRUARY, APRIL, JULY, AND DECEMBER ALUMNI NUMBER OF Antioch College CALENDAR Full term begins September 22, Wednesday. 1909-1910 Yellow Springs, Ohio scond-class matter under Act of Congress of Ju y 16th, 1894 Published by ANTIOCH COLLEGE July, 1909 Executive Committee-John M. Davidson, ex officio; Ella Fogg, ex officio; J. Peary Miller, ex officio; Mary Wilgus, '08; Stephen F. Weston, '79. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Alumni and Old Students' Association was held Tuesday, June 15, at 3: 00 P.M., when the officers named on previous page were elected. A called meeting of the Association was held immediately after the Commencement Dinner to meet and to receive into the association the members of this year's graduating class. It was suggested that next year the alumni have a banquet instead of the annual address before the association. The matter was left with the executive committee. Attention may here be called to the fact that membership in the association comprises alumni and old students and that the annual dues are one dollar. THE ALUMNI AND THE ENDOWMENT. At the meeting on Tuesday, Mr. Davidson suggested that the Alumni Association" take up the matter of assisting President Fess in raising a Horace Mann endowment fund for Antioch. The suggestion was heartily adopted, and the executive committee was authorized to work out the details and to push the matter of solicitation among the alumni, old students, and friends of the college. It was thought that every alumnus and old student would be willing to give at least one dollar, while many would be willing to give more. Already two alumni have subscribed $100 each, as two of fifty to give that amount, and it is hoped that the other forty-eight may be readily secured among the alumni and cld students. Let those who can, promptly subscribe in the $100 list. It is ucped that those who cannot subscribe this amount will send in such subscriptions as they may feel able to make. Realizing that there are many who may not feel like contributing $100, it is sugested that each class undertake, as a class, to raise $100 (excluding such members as may contribute $100 individually) or such sum as they may be able to raise. In these ways from $5,000 to $10,000 ought to be raised, and it is pretty certain that whatever amount is raised will elicit more from Mr. Carnegie or the Rockefeller Foundation. Every alumnus and old student should take a hearty interest in raising the endowment of Antioch, as they must be interested in keeping her work up to the highest standard. College standards |
