The following items were collected by Mr. H. Halliday Sparling, Secretary of the Kelmscott Press.

5230 The Story of the Glittering Plain. The first page set in the golden type and the first ever printed at the Kelmscott Press, with Inscription by William Morris, "the Kelmscott Press, January 31st, 1891, William Morris," and accompanied by Sparling's certificate as to its authenticity. Small oblong sheet of paper containing eight lines set up in Golden type as an example of its effect in combination. Only five different letters were first sent by the founders, and the words here are formed from these five, 8vo. (996) Temple, £26 10S.

[The "Note" refers to the "Glittering Plain" trial page, but gives the wrong date, January 31st instead of January Ist.--Catalogue.] 5231 Shakespeare. [The rejected page is referred to in the " Note," but, according to Sparling's own inscription, the compiler of the list is a month wrong in the date.—Catalogue.]

[This comprised every item utilised in the composition of the prospectus, and the first-named is probably unique, the original idea being to print the specimen page on the prospectus, which was afterwards altered in favour of an 8vo. leaflet, with specimen enclosed. The "Note" mentions only one announcement.-Catalogue.]
