trufting to his interceffion at the Throne of Grace, for the pardon of all how fins. "There, and all other requests, for them and for ourie ves, we humbly make in the name and mediation of Jefus Chritt, our matt billed Lord and Saviour.”

Speech of the Lord Mayor, on the Prefentation of the Colours:

"GENTLEMEN,

"I cannot but confider myself peculiarly fortunate in being called on by my official fituation to discharge a duty fo gratifying as that which on the prefent occasion has devolved on me.

"Gentlemer, It would be a vain attempt for me to describe the fentation to which this tublime fpectacle gives birth. Powers far fuperior to mine could not do juftice to the fcene which here prefents ittel could pay but an inadequate tribute of applaute to these gallant and patriotic Bands, who, routed by the voice of honour, yield their pleatures and their occupations a willing tacrifice at the thrine of their Country. Yes; it remained for the prefent age to prove that the Citizens of London inherit the fame ardent Ipirit-glow with the fame devotion to the facred caute of Freedom and Independence, as diftinguished their immortal Ancestors, who, in the prou left periods of Britain's tame, were still molt conlpicuous in the career of glory. It was referved for the pretent age to prove the fallehood of the imputation, that the Genius of Commerce had fubdued the fire of freedom in our breafts, and to evince tha thole who by civilization and induftry belt learn to acquire wealth-by their intrepidity and exertions belt know how to preferve it.

"Gentlemen, To your perfeverance and attention, as well as to the order of thole you command, are to be attributed their high state of difcipline and appearance. Your own feelings, and the approbation of your Country, form the

moit honourable, and I am fure, to you the mit gratifying reward.

"Gentlemen, I am prefenting to you the Colours, a tribute of the gratitude of your fellow Citizens, and the best mark of their attachment to their Brethren in arms. Allow me to lay, I rely with con fidence that you will receive them as the moit tacred depofit which can be entrusted to your care; and that, as the city of London is the first in the Empire, its Citizens will be the first to afford a bright example of devotion in a caule of which they have already hewn them!elves fo worthy."

Sir W. Curtis has refigned the command of the 9th Regiment of London Volunteers; Lent. Colonel Hankey is the new Cmna diot.

25. This day was, by Proclamation, chlegved as a General Falt throughoutEngland, for humbling ourselves before Almighty God, in order to obrain pardon of our ins, and in the mott devout and folemn manner fending up our players and fupplications to the Divine vajetty, for averting thofe heavy judgments which our man.fold prov. cations have in it juitly delerved; and for imploring his bleffing and alintance on our arms for the reftoration of Peace and profperity to thele dominions.

A new coinage of Crown Preces from Dollars has been illued by the Back from Mr. Bolton's Mint, the Soho, near Birmingham, where eight prelles are employed at the same time, each of which will trike 66 in a minute, giving the impreflion on both fides at one Broke; and fo fimply constructed as to be worked by one man, without the mallet danger, the piece difcharging itfelt from the die, when another inttantly dips into its place. His Majesty's head and the reverte are done in a matterly style, forming a very beautiful com, which will be extremely dithcuit to counterfeit.
