This bronze statue of Shakespeare, placed at Stratford-on-Avon, October 10, 1888, is the gift and work of Lord Ronald Gower. The figure of the poet is seated upon a pedestal, round the base of which are placed four bronze figures: Lady Macbeth, representing Tragedy; Falstaff, Comedy; Prince Hal, History; Hamlet, Philosophy.
