the original edition of Charles Lamb's "Adventures of Ulysses," 1808, 8vo., in boards, brought £25. William Blake's "Illustrations to Dante," 7 India proof plates, original impressions, oblong atlas folio, n.d., £18 10s.; and the same artist's "Illustrations to the Book of Job," engraved title and 21 plates, 1825 (not March, 1826, that date shewing later impressions), folio, £12 10s.; Bacon's "Essaies," 1625, 4to., £9 10s.; and Gerarde's "Herball," enlarged by T. THE LIBRARY OF THE LATE MR. HENRY WHITE, OF QUEEN S GATE, W.

(No. of Lots, 2347; amount realised, £18,116 135.)

[NOTE.--This extensive and fine library contained a considerable number of manuscripts and books in rare bindings. The former class comprised a long series of illuminated Horæ (Lots 1105-1145), Antiphonaria, Psalteria, Biblia, Service books, the Evangelia Quatuor, in Greek and Latin, and old classics, among which the works of Seneca, Terentius, Statius, Aristotle, Virgil and Cæsar are especially noticeable. The choice bindings, some of which were reproduced in facsimile and bound up with the catalogue, recall the names of Cardinal Louis de Bourbon, Nicolas de Villa, Bishop of Agen, Antoinette Lezurier, Queen Elizabeth, King Charles I., Marie de Medicis and other notables. These are nearly all referred to and described in the following report, but for the manuscripts reference must-with exceptions-be made to the catalogue.-ED.]
