About the author (2000)

Pam Baragwanath was born in 1838. She was educated at Deakin University, Burwood. She taught primary school for 8 years. Since 1984, she has worked as a researcher at the Mechanics' Institute. She is the co-author with Ken James of These Walls Speak Volumes: A History of Mechanics' Institutes in Victoria. It won the top prize at the 2016 Victorian Community History Awards (VCHA) for their self-published book.
